    Pablo's 3rd scratch build

After the dramas of moving house, things have settled to a point where I can finally get a start on my new scratch build. I've had this lovely chunk of camphor stashed for almost a year now, big enough for two one piece bodies, and I'm now happy enough with my plans to go ahead with a new shape.

Split. I'm using the smaller piece and saving the other for possibly a bass build sometime in the future.

Here's the shape. Along the lines of a small body Jag or Jazzmaster.

    Bandsawed roughly in to shape.

    Side view.

Camphor is a fantastic wood to work with. Smells great too. If I get another slow day tomorrow, I might get on to the thicknesser and maybe even some routing. Better order some wood for the neck too.

No excuse for not working on it if you've got a cold!

    Nice looking piece of wood.

    Cheers guys.

Andy, not sure where Tony sourced his camphor, but I got mine at the 'Working with wood' show at RNA showgrounds. It's coming up again in May, will probably head along again for an afternoon.

    Forgot to add this yesterday

    Plans.

Nice work Pabs and like the offset plan. It would be good to have a twin bass

Oh the camphor smell. I have a large breadboard / chopping block made of same wood - just the right size.....
