Thread: G'day from Melbourne

    King Casey,
The latest Hofner Beatles bass guitars made in China are a whole lot of fun and only cost a weeks wages. Very good finished quality (for the price). I got one about six months ago and it was my introduction back into the musical community after decades of non activity. (The internet is amazing). As for sound; you are absolutely correct, a hollow woody sounding "thud thud thud" pretty much sums it up! LOL. I might even go one as one of my next builds here. Maybe try a sunburst finish for the first time. :-)

G'day Newton. Whoah! you are gonna have TWO of them?
I'm going to have to show some restraint. Seems like guitar building can easily become an obsession.
I better make my first choice count.

    cheers, Mark.

    Hi Andy and Simon.
Been following most of the builds and picking up lot's of tips.
Only have 2 guitars at the moment and when one is up and playing, the other is being 'upgraded'.

The tele is an Indonesian Squier 'standard' from 2000
The strat copy started as a 'Venom'.
They're both currently wearing Pitbull necks.

If you're used to upgrading guitars, then a build isn't going to be that difficult for you.

I'll definitely be giving it a go at some stage Simon.
    Wouldn't mind a bass guitar.
Prefer the double cutaway telecaster bass, or if a Mustang becomes available...
Meanwhile it is entertaining following the other build diaries...like your ES-3 saga.

    cheers, Mark.

Yes, I'll be getting back to that very soon. Still doing a bit of binding scraping as it's very hard work and then I need to do a lot of making good round the edges where the scraper slipped etc.
