Now I realise a lot of people don't like bluegrass.
I am not a huge fan.
However, you do have to admire their skills.

Not too bad Rabz and a great song that helps. Reminds me of early 70's Greatful Dead

Speaking of oddball bluegrassy stuff, I give you Steve n Seagulls
And the amazing Moody Bluegrass
Well these guys are actually quite good. I have an early album "A Hillybilly Tribute to AC/DC". They call it "rockgrass", I've heard it called "thrashgrass" (coined by Ian Simpson of Slim Dusty and The Fargone Beauties fame).

I love bluegrass and at one stage owned and played a 5-string banjo to play such! However, I was never able to get the finger rolls going - a là Earl Scruggs - and could find no-one else in southern NZ who played who could show me stuff, so I wound up playing it like a 5 string guitar mostly, which wasn't what I was after....
There was a quite prominent outfit in NZ in the 70s called the Hamilton County Bluegrass Band which were masters of their instruments and who turned my head away from Led Zeppelin, the Stones and Glam Rock... albeit briefly!!
"If it's Blues music in a bar and it helps people swallow their drink of choice, or it's a dance song and people get up off their chairs and shuffle their feet, or it's a Jazz tune and the Chardonnay tastes so much better... then it's all good."

I was a massive fan of them back in the day, still got Kersbrook Cottage in the record collection and funnily enough were discussing them on Thursday night.
They were the backing musicians on a rather risque album called The R Certificate Songbook the liner notes said they put a blindfold on Colleen so she wouldn't be offended by the lyrics
Love the Fargone Beauties.....
