    Double Sided Tape

Who here uses Double Sided Tape during setup and building?????

I apologise if this is already a common practice, but I saw this guy on youtube giving Luthiers' Top 10 Tips and thought that this one is too good not to be common knowledge.

Instead of using Double Sided Tape for attaching Abrasive Paper to straight edges etc for the likes of fret planning, Mounting Pickup Templates was also an application that he recommended this for.

This guy (who picked up the trick from his apprentice, and viewed it with scepticism until he tried it) puts Masking Tape on Both Surfaces and then Superglues the Tape together. He claims that it Never Moves and is easy to remove when required.....
He claims that he never uses Double Sided Tape anymore.....

well I'd imagine low tack double sided tape would be hard to track down, so this is way of making your own. I got hold of some scrapbook tape (double sided cello tape - no padding) which I need to test to make sure it wont damage a guitar if I use it.

You have no idea how timely this post is. I was going to go and get some doubled sided tape today for a pickguard template - I like the sound of this much more! Thank you!

Here's the video. It works very well, just don't use too much glue.

Well I can report back that it works! I've just done it as described and it worked a treat. My pickguard phobia may be at an end!
