    Maple Neck finish

Hey Mr DB! I have sanded to a very fine feel the neck of my Pit Bull ST1. (Maple neck and fret-board). As a finish I have used hardly any "Martin guitar polish", on the neck as instructed by a guy at my local "Derringers" store. He also suggested that I put nothing at all on the fret-board. I am afraid that they may become dirty and deeply stained. What are your thoughts please?

Hi Simdingo, welcome to the forum !
I use orange oil for the fingerboard, you can use any natural oil, or Dingowax or Dr Ducks Axe wax. Give it a good rub with fine steel wool first, clean and then oll or wax it

Thanks wokkaboy, I guess I was really meaning, what's the worst that could happen if I don't use an oil? sorry to take so long to reply, I tried yesterday but it had timed out.

Hi Simdingo, if you don't oil the neck the surface will become dry and all the gunk from your fingers will eventually stick to the fretboard and it won't be slippery and not as nice to play in my opinion.

It's worth getting a tub of Dingowax and rub it on
