Looks like you've dragged it out of a fire. Love it. What did you use for the headstock decal? Is it some kind of vinyl stock that you've printed on yourself?

Ah the old "it's not for me, it's for my guitar..." excuse at the cosmetic counter. Classic.

    Looks good Waz, nice effect.

All gone very well, Waz. There's still a bit of difference in the shades of the different wood sections, but not much and just enough to provide some visual interest.

Thanks Guys for your encouraging comments.

@ G-Axe I just used cheap decal transfer paper with an ink jet printer and trimmed it after it had dried. Had been wanting to try the reversed out effect and it paid off. Would suggest Laser printer may have been a more even and consistent shade of black.

@ Weirdbits, yeah, I went to a few different places before finding the right metallic chrome looking nail polish. The girl who served me was very helpful and said that many people came in looking for nail polish to either match a tile that needed a repair or for car paint touch ups. At $4.95 per bottle it worked out much cheaper than a spray can from Supercheap Autos.

A Dedman, happy to be finally enlisted in the 'Darkside' members club. I think you will like the fret board sticker set that is on it's way from Japan.

    Fret board bling arrived today

After a big day at work today it was a nice surprise when I got home to open up the mail box and find a package that was not expected to arrive so soon. I was almost going to keep this hidden until the final reveal but just couldn't keep it all to myself.

The stickers are actual thin metallic strips and will cover them with a couple of TO coats for OHS purposes. They were bought from Jockomo and come in Abalone or Pearl as well as the Metal finish.

    Making progress.....

Here are some shots after about 5-6 ragged on TO followed by 4 x 600 grit wet sanded 50/50 TO & turps coats, followed by 4 x 1200 grit wet sanded 50/50 TO & turps, then 1 x 2000 grit wet sanded 50/50 TO & turps - on the body. Neck had about 6 ragged coats and now 2 x 1200 & 1 x 2000 wet sanded 50/50.

Feels smooth as a baby's bum and quite surprised how shiny it is. Just put on the 2nd x 2000 wet sanded coat and whilst wet it was looking almost done. 2 more at this grit level and will then let it cure for a while before doing the micro mesh stages.
