Nah, that would be too British for this axe and proceeded to give it a liberal dose of some dark & sinister brew.......

These shots were done as the brew was still wet and in the 3rd shot it was starting to dry.

Neck and fret board were very bland and was hoping for more of the darkness to show up? Will wait and see how it all looks in the morning before making any further decisions.

It's only going to show up what grain pattern's there. It's brought out some quite interesting patterns on the board itself, less so on the headstock.

Are you thinking about doing some more staining on the lighter wood strips to try and get a more even colour?

That may be required and depends on how it oxidises overnight. Was hoping for more black tones rather than dark brown/grey and may have to revert to 'Plan B'.

Backup 'Plan C' is all Black so hopefully we don't need to go that far as it would be nice to see some grain poking through.

Not worried about the headstock as that will be fully covered with a transfer decal idea I have in mind.

Dark brown/grey is obviously the new black!

I'd let it dry and then see what it looks like with a quick wipe with turps. It may darken a lot when wet.

Hey Simon, you could be right and will show some shots dry before wiping with turps and then after tomorrow once it has had at least 12 hours to react to the vinegar solution.

    Cheers Stan.

Just waiting on Dedman & Frankenwashie to drop by as they both seem to lean more towards the dark side of things.

Oh, did I mention that my Year 12 Chemistry results were around 45% which from memory = D

Only did the subject for the experiments, just hated the theory with all that formulae & calculation stuff.

Very cool Waz, I'm definitely getting a dark and stormy feel from this one!
