here is my GS2Q not finished yet as still waiting for parts (bridge, top mount string Ferrules) i would not recommend this kit for the 1st time builder as had some really tricky issues to fix the veneer was higher than the binding and over it in places which took a fair wile with a blade to get it sitting against the binding and the neck took heaps of work to get it just right and of cause the bridge and top and bottom Ferrules that need some pretty accurate drilling not for the faint of heart. Any off them done wrong would bugger up the guitar. i have gone with a yellow dye and a brown dye which i diluted quite a bit to get the back light enough but did a full strength to show the mahogany grain 1st then sanded back with full strength brown to highlight the grain, Dyes i used were Rit dye's i got from lincraft and worked really good. i sprayed the same diluted brown for the burst and went finally over with clear its not finished yet

heres a 3 day wonder i been playing with rit dye with different strengths i found mixing 200ml to a box of powder worked best i did 2 coats and let it dry and then wipe it down with a damp sponge till i got the grain showing that i liked worked best, diluting it by 400ml was good for letting the colour to come to a more lighter shade, this isnt a final job as i did it in 3 days, i dye and damp sponge day 1, i shot the clear day 2 and wet&dry and polish day 3. Im going to try some more colours have done yellow, brown and red so far which i'm very pleased with results. I'm going to try blue and green this week, using it was not much different from using colortone dye had no issues with lacquer in fact it was pretty painless so here's a few pic's a pack of the powder was $8.50 far cheaper than dna candys which were just over $220 a tin but you get a lot of body's out of a tin, i think you can get Spray chief for $125 a tin but you require good gun skills to keep it even and not blotchy

    here is dye before sponge

    HELP

I need some advice guys i got my bridge for my new build but i noticed the bridge on my Lag and Les Paul is fitted slightly scewed why is it like that for a tuneamatic i am fitting a roller bridge is intonation harder on a straight fitted bridge?? Simon? also is there a set angle for the string through Ferrules set up or anything is ok ?

Yeah the bridge on a tunematic is slanted away from the neck on the low 'E' side by around 3mm.

I find my low 'E" adjustment always ends up way back because I like a lighter gauge string, so I think its pretty important to have that compensation angle on it.

I don't think the ferrules for a string through need to be on an angle, they are prior to the bridge so I don't think it really matters. On the Flying 'V's they are in a V shape pattern.
