If you want some tutorial information on how to use them, the Stew Mac site, has some good videos as does Youtube. Stew mac also sell some really good specialist guitar scrapers but they are quite expensive, very good tools though.

All you really have to remember is to go with the lay of the grain, not against it and make sure that you keep them sharp.
If you are going to go minimalist and use the Knife blade, wear gloves, and keep it more or less square to the surface you are scraping. You are best to try on a piece of scrap (one of your headstock off cuts) until you get the feel for it.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.

You should be able to get all those tools locally. They are fairly universal tools these days.

Hi Simon, yeah true. however, yesterday I dropped by several local shops, but they didn't have. so I inquired availability and price to a big hardware shop here, then they said yes, and price is spokeshave S$80, cabinetscraper S$50.
so I think buying from ebay or Stew mac. it could be reasonable with shipping cost, even it takes 2 weeks.

and the head stock, I have worked with Scraper, and it really worked well. I feel its shape now better, even it was very subtle. what if i continue with working with files to shape, head could've been ugly...

well done Toshi the body looks much better, when you get a better eye for machine marks you generally find more !!
You must have huge arms by now with all the sanding !
Headstock shape getting there, see if you can find a round object about the same size as the top part and pencil in the round shape. At the moment it needs a bit more work to become a more perfect half circle. It will look better if so.
Otherwise keep going you are getting close to starting the staining process !

Hi Wok, thank you for encouragement & another advice. yes, apparently arm muscle is getting stronger day by day.
I worked on head top yesterday following your instruction. now it looks better, doesnt it?

by the way, i was thinking of neck process. i would like to finish neck&head by gloss clear lacquer without staining. so far im thinking of sanding neck 120>240>320 and apply primary, then place decal on head and finally spray clear lacquer with a few coat. but what is the common process for neck&head usually?

No worries Toshi that headstock round top looks much better now ! I have been a draftsperson for over 25 years so I can spot a circle and spot one that's not !
Neck sanding plans sound good, see if you can slip 180 grit in there so 120, 180, 240, 320, then your decal, then clear lacquer

    good luck buddy !

if we had to vote for sander of the year (SOTY) I think I would be voting you haha its all worth it once you see the finished product
