Here's the unscathed back in all its glory
and the figure in the maple headstock is great....its very similar up and down the neck...
I checked the centreline and scale length today, its about 626mm to the end of the bridge humbucker rout which doesn't give a huge amount of room for bridge placement, but just enough.
You can see from the photo that for a cheap bridge the PBG bridge that comes with the kit is pretty cool. see in the shadow on the body that there are two lots of 6 x holes on the upright part of the bridge so you can either choose to string the guitar from the bridge (the other is for the saddle screws) or you can use the six string holes in the base plate and go for gold and make a string through.

Ok with much deliberation between me and my dreams, I've settled on the following plans:-
Kit: PBG STA-1TH
Tuners: Grover mini rotomatics (PBG upgrade)
Bridge: PBG Standard hardtail with Gotoh 'String thru Body' Bushing Set
String trees: Gotoh barrel string trees
Inlays: Mother of Pearl Inlay Dot
Swtitch: CRL 5 Way Switch
Pots and Caps: 250k CTS Vintage 'Dish Back' Audio Taper Pot with Sprague .047mfd Orange Drop Capacitors
Pickups: SSS - Tonerider Classic Blues Single Coil Set
Pick guard: - PBG standard
Neck finish: Either Dingotone or Truoil (haven't decided yet)
Body stain: Dingotone Karajini Red to Coolangatta Gold burst
Body finish: Either Dingotone or Truoil (haven't decided yet)
I havent thought much about the wiring, but i'd like to consider wiring the tone knobs to work with all positions (including the bridge), if anyone has a wiring diagram to do this let me know.

Surely with that type of bridge saddle, you have to use through-body stringing? Or else as it is, you'd have to run the string down under the back of the saddle, then up through the middle and over the top. Very fiddly indeed (if it's even possible) and it's not going to make intonation easy and is likely to break strings. The rear string holes would have to be at the bottom of the rear plate if top-stringing had any chance of working.
Do you get any rear string ferules with the kit?
Each saddle has a hole in the rear of the saddle to allow the string through from the bridge so i don't think it would be that hard.
It doesn't bother me as it was always a string through for me, none came with the kit, but I bought my ferrules for under $10.

plans sound great Andy, bonus the PBG hardtail bridges now have the option for rear string or string through.
With the burst I reckon bushfire sunrise would look choice in between the karijini and gold. The karijini will be fairly dark on the ash grain so the lighter red might make the transition/blend smoother between the colours. Just a suggestion.
