Waz, I used the remainder of my custom DT rosewood stain after popping the grain with ebony timbermate. I had to use tru oil as the finish as I used up all of the DT MkII finish.

Did it retain much of the original colour scheme or was that mostly lost in the sanding back? Either way from what little you have revealed it looks stunning.

@waz - went right back to bare Ash mate.....took ages, I had to sand out the red timbermate and re-timbermate with ebony

It would probably be a bit thinner and lighter now after sanding back to remove the red timbermate. Did you contemplate adding the rosewood DT to where things were at or was it too far gone and beyond salvage hence the full strip?
