    Pickup upgrade for The Count

Quite a few years ago a mate gave me a set of Seymour Duncan 1970s Hot Stack Strat pickup and they had gone missing but yesterday they were found in a box containing old model aero engines from my callow youth.

Sadly they are the wrong colour and I've not been able to find black replacement covers of the correct depth so it will be what it will be

I have done some recording with the current kit pups which sound most acceptable so it will be interesting to see if the swap is worth the effort, I'll do an AB of the sound file and post it once done

Nice! No doubt it will be worth the trouble. Looking forward to hearing the side-by-side comparison.

    cheers,
    Gav.

You could always get two sets of black covers and do a cut and shut to get the depth you need. Or, make friends with someone who can 3D print a set for you.

    Good thought weirdy.

The SDs are about 5mm taller than standard Strat pups, 16.5mm top to bottom.

SD do black covers for Hot Rails but are slotted for the raised rail which in mine is flush
