so ... I had planned on going down the hand rubbed tobacco sunburst finish track for the project
I decided to use 3 DT stains - colourless, outback sunset and black stump ...
After watching a few examples of people showing how it's done on Youtube I tried it out ...

After an hour or so of mucking around, I ended up with a look that I'm pretty happy with ...
... nothing like a proper sunburst, but I really like the effect that I've been able to achieve.
I'm letting it cure and plan on just finishing now with some TO.

Not yet! Give it another month for the weather to brighten up and I'll be back into full guitar construction mode. I'm half tempted to ditch my thoughts on the wiring and base it more on the standard Graphtec diagram - but it needs more knobs and switches than you can easily get on a Tele control plate.

I really like what you have going on here, its giving me a real appreciation for the bass, I built an SGB-34 at the beginning of the year for my son. It may be time to get one for myself.
