Not as amazing as many of the other builds I've seen, but here's my just-finished fretless JBA-4.

Fretless conversions was done by pulling the frets and filling the slots with cedar timbermate before applying CA glue in many many layers. Body is ebony timbermate then a mix of Feast Watson Walnut and Japan Black in different proportions for the body and neck followed by 20+ (I lost count, but it's somewhere between 20 and 25) coats of Tru Oil. I used black pickguard screws that I had spare instead of the stock ones, and I replaced the nut with a graphite one I shaped and filed myself, but apart from that and the fretlessness, everything's stock standard.

I had a ton of fun building it and I'm now having a ton of fun playing it. My first practice with this bass was the very first time I've played a fretless instrument, so I've got a lot of learnng to do.

Hope those photos are of the right stuff.

That's a great build - don't down play the amount of work you had to do with the neck especially with the results you've achieved. Really looks sweet!

Top job. So envious of the block markers on the fret board.

Lovely bass your effort has paid off. And yes those 70s style block markers are the business

good work H, apart from the block markers and pickguard it's pretty similar to Ponch's JBA-4.
Great effort the bar has been raised high already.
You will love a fretless heaps of fun to play.
Did you upgrade the pickups to Entwistle or Tonerider or are they stock ?
