Wokka, the pickups are stock. I had to choose between pickup upgrades and a new kit this month, so new kit it was. The stock ones are much nicer than I was expecting so I'll probably end up leaving them for a while. I mean, they're not fantastic, but they sound totally OK through my amp, so it's not an immediate issue. I'd like to see how the Entwistles go, so they'd be my choice for an upgrade.
G'day H, upgraded my Red J Bass with Entwistles as the stockers were OK but pretty low on output. Might need to re-shoot another video and remove the 'Up-shorts' one everyone made comments about. My playing was ordinary in it as I was focusing too much on whether the iPad was recording both sound and vision. The Entwistles are taller and the side lugs are a bit further outbound thus requiring a bit of re-shaping scratch plate and bridge PUP rout for them to fit. They have lots more grunt and for about $80 bucks for the Neodymium ones I am happy with the investment. They do have a slightly cheaper set but haven't tried them so cannot comment.Originally Posted by UpperCaseH
