Hi Andy, for the flame popping I used cyan inkjet printer ink mixed 50:50 with water, left 24 hours to dry and then used a damp rag to wipe off as much of the ink as possible before applying the second coat. Surprised at how dark that stuff is out of the bottle and had to dilute it to get the lighter colour and by using this method saved heaps of time by not having to dry sand the body anywhere near as much. Here is a shot from that thread.....Click image for larger version.

Wish I had seen this thread earlier... I'm just going to do the Wudtone Azure blue on a maple top, we will see how it turns out...
I also made a mistake with my first Wudtone dye kit... put a base coat on first... should have been the deep colour coat, but it turned out ok in the end..

    Hi

I have just used my first Wudtone kit. The instructions are quite clear that if your kit contains a Deep Colour coat then you put that on first (it is a bit misleading unless you look at it in the context of the instructions).

Only thing I found with Wudtone was that i could have done with a little bit more deep colour in the kit. Had 1 deep colour coat (used it all), two base coats (used 1.5) and extra gloss top coat (used just over half doing 4 coats)

As with PBG you have to sign up to the forum to get the instructions.

Why oh why cant people just provide printed instructions with kits and even a DVD with Videos on?

For info I have included part of the instructions (I marked them so I would not forget it when I was doing the staining)

Good luck with recovering the situation

The veiws and opinions voiced in this post are my personal views, and in no way are linked to PBG management.
All I will say is that I have spoken to Andy at Wudtone on a couple of occasions and he has been very pleasant and helpful.

As with a number of companies, you approach them with problems with their products and you hear nothing back

The first mistake was mine not Wudtones, Andy had sent me via e-mail a copy of the instructions, I read them, 2 days later got stuck into staining, newbie mistake took base coat as being the first, only realised after I had done it and re read the instructions.
When I got my first stain to be honest I thought the bottle were on the small side, however, so far so good, had some left over on each of the 3 kits so far, don't know whether to keep these to one side or try a mix up of them all to see what comes from it
