Clean cut! I was weighing up purchasing an SG kit next, and I think you've just sold me on it with this appeal
Slow progress on the SG. I plugged the 2x tail holes and ran the earth wire to the bridge.
I filled most of the holes with a plastic wood compound to get a good solid material and then cut a plug from tasmanian wood to cover the top of the one that will be partly visible. I lined up the wood grain so that plug shouldn't be too obvious once tinted.
The other hole is only topped with timbermate as it will not be visible.
Should look okay.
I'm thinking I'll do a reverse burst too, with black in the middle (to cover the plug) and purple on the edges...
Still not sure about this yet.

Wow, the burst idea sounds great. Would you do the same shade of Magenta that Stan did on his recent GOTM LP? That was one hell of a sexy colour.

Something similar yes. I got black, magenta and violet artist inks and I'm going to try a few mixes of the magenta and violet.
The magenta alone is a bit too pink for my liking.
I still haven't completely made up my mind on the reverse burst... I like the concept but haven't found pics online yet to see how it would look like with the black in the middle...

I reckon it would look good as blended edge rather than a full burst. A bit like this but not such a defining edge line perhaps?

shape looks great Fred, it's pretty close to the standard SG shape minus the little dip in the centre of the moustache shape

Yes it is, I just kept the 'horns' a bit higher than standard G headstock...
I'm actually now considering beveling the inside of the horns at the back to sort of match the bevel of the body... Still thinking about it
