no worries KB, well looking at the photo of raw materials I can remember the parts list.
    1) 2 pieces of 70 x 30 x 1200mm pine (for base sides and backboard which supports necks)
    2) 2 pieces of 40 x 30 x 1200mm pine for (2 bottom rails)
    3) 1 piece 89 x 19 x 1800mm pine (for both side uprights)
    4) 3 x 1 metre lengths 1.5" or 1.75" (not sure which) K-flex insulating tube (to cover bottom 2 rails)
    5) 2 x 1 metre lengths 0.5" K-flex insulating tube (cover the dowelling)
    6) 3 x 900mm long x 16mm diameter dowel
    7) 50 pack of 65mm timber or chipboard screws - could probably get away with a 25 pack
    8) 8 x 50mm screws to screw uprights to side of base (into 30 + 19mm) so could use 45mm long screws
    9) paint of your choice, I got British paints satin black have a primer and paint in one, cost $7.45 each

from the big green shed all this came to about $83 and you will be able to fit 12 guitars - mine 10 electrics and 2 acoustics had to be spaced further apart.
I will draw a clearer sketch of dimensions next few days and post here KB

You will also need a 16mm spade drill to drill the dowel into the 30mm thick backboard and some glue.

no worries KB, I thought about round rails but hard to get timber in about 40mm diameter to have the strength required and PVC would flex too much. The K-flex fit over the 40x30 pine but had to round off the corners of the pine with a 40 grit paper on a orbital took under 10 mins. When I paint it I will remove the K-flex from the dowelling and mask the bottom rails with newspaper and tape

cheers Ponch, I have sketched the dimensions from top of my head, will confirm I remembered the lengths correctly tonight and scan it and post on this thread.
I think at least 50% of the forum could use a guitar rack and it saves so much space and any axe is readily available to pull out of the rack, plus less chance of an axe leaning on a wall falling over and damaging it or even worse breaking a headstock off

Yeah mate, it's a bit like that lately. Every time I get a new tool or something there's a new project that has to be done with it, then you realise that you could have done it easier if you just had tool x. So you buy tool X. The you find a project to use tool X, which leads you to the realisation that you could make a better job of it if you had tool Y and so it goes on ad infinitum until you could run a woodworking business from your basement.
