    Colin's 2nd LP-1M

Just received another LP-1M in the mail yesterday. I built one previously that was so good eg.
light, beautiful flame, straight neck on which I was able to achieve a great low action, resonance, and a fantastic classic LP tone. Hard to improve on, my finish was to my liking too.
I just finished setting it up (almost, I seem to tweak by finding faults rather than a systematic approach)
Anyway, I took it up to Brizzy to show my guitar playing son, and he liked it so much I gave it to him.
It was like tearing my arm off. But he ripped out classic Les Paul riffs -Led Zep, ZZ Top, Gov't Mule etc and said he'd never played a guitar that sounded as good. What could I do?
    Order another one, that's what.

So it's got a lot to live up to. I'll show some photos if I can.

    Cheers Colin

great story Colin, that's the good thing about PBG, if you do end up separated from your build you can always build another !

look forward to seeing pics of the first build and a build diary of the 2nd LP build

Hi Colin, the first LP build looks great, pity the images are so small can't see much detail.
You should be able to post pics up to just under 1MB and maximum resolution of 1500 x 1500.

Good luck with the 2nd LP build

This wasn't a standard build. Tonerider alnico 4 type pups, CTS pots, aftermarket tuners, push/pull neck tone control for "Peter Green" out of phase middle position. I changed the tone caps for .10 instead of .022, so the full range of the tone controls were useful (great woman tone).
And importantly, I took off the plastic nut. It wasn't cut very well. When I got it off I found it was hollow. That can't be good for sustain. I put a brass nut on, had to buy some nut files, but that was fine.
One problem was lack of room for intonation adjustment. I had to reverse the 3 bass saddles and move them all as far forward as they would go to get close. After adjusting the truss rod and action, I was able to get slight excess room for adjustment on only 4 of 6 strings, but the others were close. I actually ordered a bigsby and locking roller nut, as the roller nut has forard and backward adustment at the posts. But I gave it to my son before it arrived.

wow Colin love the upgrades you did. Sounds like it would have played and sounded very nice.
Good news is you can put the Bigsby on your 2nd LP build which I hope you get to keep !
