#Planning 5 String Bass
Hi Dedman, Toffee apple red is what I am chasing and here are some shots after first application of colour.
The mix was 4 parts ColorTone Cherry Red to 1 part Blackstone Uluru Red Fountain Pen Ink. The fountain pen ink was as dark as a rich red wine and for the 2nd colour applied this morning went with 5:1 to add more of the cherry red back into the mix.
Found the ColorTone Cherry Red a bit too dull to use on it's own and really happy with how this looks at present. Can't wait to see how much depth it gets after several coats of TO.
More shots....

Thats looking great. I may have to look at the fountain pen ink on a future project
You can google fountain pen ink and lots of stuff comes up. As I was specifically after red there were not so many options and tripped over this one which is actually located at Blackstone on the outskirts of Ipswich. They have a good colour range and if you are into green that looked pretty good too.

love the colour Waz, looks unreal on that ash body. This will be a stunning bass bro. When are you going to build a real instrument a guitar ? haha

That Blackstone ink looks like the duck's nuts. Barrier Reef Blue looks gorgeous.
I like that it says you can airbrush it. What would you thin it with? It doesn't say on their website.

Hey Woks, Building one of each in Explorers and now one of each in F style.
Also got a cheapy eBay Artist brand P Bass too that I will de-fret one day soon and turn into a fretless. Just need to figure out how to remove the speed humps without damaging the rosewood fret board?
All up the tally will be 3 Bass vs 4 Electric Guitars & 1 Acoustic once these are finished.
