    Quick update:

It seems the rumours of timber binding are not to be unfortunately (on this model anyway). I'm actually glad as I was worried about stain leaching into it.

This is what it looked like

as you can see, looks like wood grain.

It's just really roughly sanded. I scraped a bit to see what would happen, and what do you know, perfect curls of ABS and smooth as.

Oh well, it might pay for Adam or DB to check out the other new quilted kits for similar results as, at least, the new PRS has timber binding listed as a feature.

Like I said, this is actually a positive for me, no more worrying about trying to mask it off.

Got the neck heel sorted as well.

Just rounded off the sharp corners with a file. Easy as pie.

    Fits very well now.

Snug as a bug. Now I need to dowel the preexisting holes in the neck because they won't line up anymore.

Bummer.... It looked and felt like timber binding... but the then at the time I wasn't wearing my specs and I am blind as a bat without them... :/

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

It did indeed, and I can sympathise with the needing of the specs.

thats good news Pabs, I was a but surprised the factory would use timber binding.
What a bonus no need to mask the binding.

Beautiful kit Pabs. Personally I would've prefered plastic binding as well, so all good! That quilt's going to come up a treat. Very interested to see what you do with her...

    cheers,
    Gav.

So, just after I ordered the kit I bought three things on ebay. The bridge, the neck screws/ferrules and the flush jack mount. One item from China, one from the US and one from Sydney. Two packages showed up today, guess which ones?

The bridge from the US and the neck fixings from China. Still waiting for the jack mount from Sydney. Bloody hell.

On a positive note; yay, stuff!
