Thanks Wokka. Suppose after a few top coats you then add small amount of DT wax to give it more shine? Most of the threads indicate a satin to semi gloss finish is what to expect and being a first build hope it turns out that way.

Any ideas what might be happening here?
Couple of base coats went on OK, added a couple of intensifier and after drying/curing for a few days some parts had more shine than others which looked quite dry or almost raw? I did lightly 0000 steel wool between some coats but they were very light and even all over. As I am getting ready to apply top coats do I need to sort this intensifier out first or will multiple top coats eventually produce an all over low sheen?

DB will be able to confirm but I think the various component of the stain can separate over time, then you can areas where the waxes or whatever is there builds up and other areas where it doesn't. This is why you have to shake to bottles very well. Not sure what the best solution is.

Last photos were quite some time ago and after a mishap with top coat that did not like a light 000 steel wool I had to use 400 grit wet and dry (used wet) to get rid of the mess and consequently took too much of the stain off in the process. Maybe 1200 would have been a bit kinder and taken less off?
After a couple more of the secret DT blended brew stain coats added a couple more of the same ratio secret blended brew intensifier and all was looking really sweet. Decided to leave a minimum 7 days curing time between applications so that it would cop a light steel wool between coats without curling up into little gummy balls of mess however today I managed to scuff a couple of the guitar edges on the workbench without realising and only had the darker intensifier left to work with. What the hell, it need more colour on those couple of raw edges and these photos show a slightly darker orange than I had before. This will do and once cured hope to do a better job of applying clear coats than my last attempt about a month ago. Today I also noticed that the steel wool breaks up into very fine dust like particles and needs to be cleaned off really, really well otherwise it ends up in the next coat applied. Might buy myself a strong magnet just to make sure all the tiny bits have been removed. Or would I be better off using a higher level grit paper to do the same thing? Also wondering if anyone has tried naughty oil over the top of Dingo Tone as if this next top coat fails like the last attempt that is strongly looking like the next best way to go. Happy to hear your thoughts.

Hey Woks, better pour me a beer as I am about to join you and many others in the naughty warehouse.
In this neck of the woods late spring/early summer humidity has been affecting DT curing time and driving me nuts. Finally caved in to running with TO for the top coats and here are a couple of pics after 4 coats. Just starting to look really shiny. Plan to do first light top coat sand tomorrow before applying many more coats.
