    Non Reverse Firebird with P90's

I'd love a non reverse firebird kit with triple P90's.

Original Gibson ones are so expensive and impossible to get here in Australia. Eastwood made the Stormbird but even they are about $800 if you can find one (yeah good luck with that)

    Cheers

Hi Tim you may be able to order a non reverse headstock FB-1 kit and then route out the body to suit the 3 P90 pickups

It would need to be a left handed body, and fill in bits and route out more.

I mean the body. Notice that on a non-reverse firebird the top horn extends out over the neck. On the original "reverse" firebird it would be the lower horn that stuck out there with the switch on it.

    Non-reverse.

I was at a gig on Saturday where a very nice looking red non-reverse was being played. Sounded great.

The body shape is different as well the "non-reverse" doesn't have the offset waist of the original reverse. Fender sued Gibson saying they had trademarked the offset waist with the Jazzmaster/Jaguar body. I've always thought the non-reverse shape looks weird compared to the slick reverse body. I've never played one, but I understand the non-reverse body also fixes some of the balance issues.

I know this is a two year old thread. But a non-reverse firebird is my dream guitar. I'd love a kit version that didn't cost the earth and that I could modify.

I would imagine that there wouldn't be a kit for this and your only real option would be a scratch built body.
Potentially, you could get the standard kit, pattern a body outline template from that and then flip it to achieve what you are after. The routs and neck pocket could be directly replicated in another template and then overlaid on the reversed body shape, the standard neck would then fit to that. The only wrinkle is that the headstock would be the wrong way around.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.
