Here is the guitar in the workshop
I used Dupli-Color automotive primer. The color was called "hot rod black". After one coat I gave it a light sand with 800 grit and I really liked the look that it had already. Im going to give it more coats to even it out and get rid of the little grain thats showing thru. But I gotta go buy more at the next town since they only had one can in the local auto parts store http://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au...cons/icon9.png

Pimp'n me out again Wokks, next you'll have me working street corners. The build is looking great Jeff, it'll be interesting to see one done in black.

If you wanted to try something a little different with the wiring using 3 pots and a switch you could try: Master Volume, No-Load Master Tone, 3-way pup selector switch, and pup balance pot. The no-load pot takes the tone control out of the circuit when it's on 10. The balance pot gives 100% vol for both pups at the centre detent, then keeps one at 100% and decreases the other when turned one way or the other, but can be wired with the pup selector so that only the selected pickup(s) part of the balance pot is in the circuit. So, with only the neck pup selected only the neck half of the balance pot is in the circuit etc. Just an idea.
    Scott.

haha didn't mean to pimp you out Weirdy, pity there's no one on the forum (that I am aware of - and no offence to anyone else on the forum !) with such a wide wiring knowledge (other than Lozza who is away)
Your idea sounds good Weirdy, sure you and Jeff can come up with the best option for Jeff

Had a long weekend of painting sanding and painting again till I liked it enough to move on to the next phase. Actually I didn't think I could wait anymore! It was still a little bright so I gave it a light sand to dull it, I think I'm still going to give it just a little bit more till the sanding is right under the polish stage. At least thats the idea, which is open to change...

I was just dying to take the masking off and see how it looked.

I was pretty happy with the results, the F-holes as expected needed some touch up, but overall its meeting expectations.

Don't look too close at those F-holes!

Strangly, where the computer will fail the iPad will prevail. (Pictures were posted thru the iPad) One thing I noticed was how well the binding highlighted the body of the guitar, and I thought of Scott's Gr-1st where he added the binding to the headstock. That would have been a nice addition to my guitar as well…

Hey Wierdbits that sound pretty interesting. Does that mean that the balance pot is only used at the middle dent of the pickup selector? I like the sound of it but I'm having a hard time getting my head around it.

Also what do you think of this circuit?
