For me I wouldn't say cheap and tacky, but I find there is too much going on, I dont know where too look. I do agree tho Simon, a bit less would certainly equate to more in my book also. Having said that the craftmanship is amazing

Tacky is subjective, but cheap? Hell no.

I think the craftmanship is outrageously good and that this guitar is simply beautiful.... as a display piece. Not too sure I'd gig it... I don't know about cheap and tacky, either; less may well be more but as a piece to display what the man can do, it serves it's purpose admirably!

Maybe my own definitions of those words don't convey the true meanings of what I feel. But one of my last jobs before I stopped working was a £180m (Aus $293m) 3-floor penthouse that was being occupied by a Ukrainian billionaire. It just proved to me that money doesn't buy taste as everything was just so over the top. Every light was a chandelier. There was one chandelier-like 'sculpture' that undoubtedly was pure crystal and cost a fortune, but done in such a way that it looked imitation and something you'd buy in the cheapest home decorations shop you can find for about $20. In the same way that there's a fine line between genius and lunacy, for me there's a similar line in ornamentation and finish on guitars between tasteful and over the top. Too much embellishment and the guitar gets pushed over from tasteful to (what I'd call) tacky.

I like the look of it from the back, but the soundhole inlay doesn't work for me, and the upper bout soundhole shapes somehow clash with the wood grain. Not a great fan of the scooped headstock either. Modify those and I'd be very impressed with it.

The maker is obviously very clever and talented and the execution of it all is wonderful, but as a whole, it just doesn't work for me.

Each to their own...... I was just admiring the workmanship and totally in awe.

Would I buy one if bank balance allowed, probably not but that doesn't stop me from appreciating a piece of art.

Bit like arguing whether Picaso or Da Vinci is better, all subjective to one's personal tastes.

An Epiphone Genesis reissue. Never seen one before, and it's currently on sale on Facebook... looks lovely to these eyes- thankfully I'm of an impecunious stature at present so it'll have to go to another home...

I'm not a religious man by any means, but I'd convert to Luthieranism (pun intended) over this.

A R8 concept bass by Jens Ritter.
