It might be just me, but I really can't stand the Great Guitar Build Off entry from Ben Crowe this year.
For those that didn't follow along, he took one of his own kit guitars and transformed it into this. It's a "hollowbody" that has literal skewers instead of sides, giving it an open design.
He drilled through the body to get the skewers in, and didn't like the way they created little dots in his finish, so painted the edges with shielding paint that he then painted silver.
The back of the guitar was also flame maple, and he painted the entire thing with sheilding paint and silver also.
He did a really intricate vine style inlay up the fretboard, but you can barely make out the stem because he chose a colour that closely matches the fretboard wood.
Don't get me wrong, I think Ben is great and love that he pushes the envelope. There's so much great content on the crimson channel that I really appreciate.
But you couldn't pay me to take this guitar.
