Pickups arrived today. And will need replacing. The bridge pickup casing is all scratched and dished in. Neck pickup is fine. Not what you'd expect for a set that costs more than Aus$400!

Needless to say I have started the complaints/return process.

I wonder if that happened during the manufacturing process or after?

The plastic case they came in was undamaged and sealed, so it's very likely it came from SD like it. I think one cover wasn't fitting properly so someone tried to force it on and damaged it. But it should have been picked up in QC. Or maybe they thought that as it was going overseas it didn't matter.

Not at the time, but I expect replacements might be as these models seem rare in the UK. At least I now know the dimensions (basically it's an imperial closest fit of 1.5" x 3.5") so I now need to pluck up the courage to rout out cavities for them. As I'm a novice to all this routing business. This is the bit I'm dreading, especially as it's not a flat top. Some jig required. I will have to practice a lot before doing it in anger.

Well that’s good news at least. What part of the UK do you reside Simon. I’m from Nottingham myself.

Reading (though I'm originally from Woking). Been living here since the beginning of 1994, so 24 years. If you are on a desktop, you should see my location displayed below my picture.

I could only imagine your disappointment there Simon. You would certainly expect a better standard with SD's considering the cost.
