When I was battling the authorities and was knocked back repeatedly by similar individuals because they made the decisions but didn't follow the rules I got a bit carried away.

My engineer and I wrote to the GM of the department, the CEO of the RTA, the Ombudsman and both govt and shadow ministers for transport, finished up getting along OK with the GM and the CEO kicked arses downwards.

Rego happened quite quickly after that

Sadly the same people at that lower level are still in the same positions but know they could be putting the RMS ( was RTA ) in a position where a well funded class action takes place.

I don't think RMS or ANY government agency worries about spending hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting you or your club. They have very deep pockets and an annual budget to squash annoying people. What they fear is bad publicity, particularly if an individual within the organization is fingered.

so true cork sniffer, I knew a fellow who took Customs to court, they just didn't show up, he'd have to pay his lawyer, Judge would set a new date, same again..... until he couldn't afford to pay lawyers any more.

A mate of mine did the same when unloading a wife. She had a lawyer, he represented himself and continued to make deliberate mistakes each time costing her money and him time only. It's a game for the detached and agony for the emotionally engaged.

It's a matter of timing, in the case of my experience was in the months prior to the NSW election when O'Farrell won so both sides didn't want a bad news story biting them on the bum.

yup, I had that same arguement with my 57. I had used all original 57 Chev parts in the conversion from 6 /3 on the tree to V8 and Powerglide. I took in the General Motors Official 57 Chev Restoration Guide. A mighty tome the size of a phone book and said, "Look, I have used all original parts, I could have ordered it like this" and the weasal behind the counter pushed the book back with one finger like he was touching a turd and said "This isn't America, I make the rules". Some further research revealed although he was the head inspector for the area, he didn't actually have a drivers licence! At that point I gave up and got more into bikes.

I know where the book would have ended up if it was me in that situation haha.
