New Digitech wireless system for guitars.

Hey everyone,

I was in my local Jaycar Electronics store when I found out that they had these Digitech wireless systems for guitars as a clearance item, normally they were on sale for about $60.00 but they had been reduced to just under $50.00, so I ended up buying one for my pedal board, here are a couple of pics of the wireless system I bought:






I haven't tried the wireless system out yet because I need to make up an adapter cable so that I can plug the transmitter into my Fender Strat, the large object in the second pic with Digitech on it is the receiver and measures roughly 115mm by 80mm by 25mm, so you can easily fit it on a pedal board.

nice score Doc that's cheap for a wireless system. The only thing I don't like is the bulky transmitter would look funny on a strat style jack. I got an old Nady wireless system from about the early to mid 90's, older than this and used to be fun and nice not to have a guitar lead and the battery pack fit in your pocket and then plug into the jack

Yeah, Digitech did make the transmitter a bit awkward to use with Strat style guitars, but I came up with a workaround for it, it's a special adapter cable I'm making that consists of a 1/4 inch socket mounted in a square plastic box I bought from Jaycar Electronics, it's going to have a short piece of cabling coming out of it with a plug on the end of it that plugs into the output socket on the guitar, the box is going to be attached to the guitar strap using some velcro, I'll post a pic of the adapter cable once I've finished making it so you can see what it looks like.

Believe it or not, the transmitter (the little thing with the gold plug poking out of it in the second pic) is actually smaller than the receiver, it uses one AAA 1.5V battery so it shouldn't cause any weight or size issues as far as i can see.

When I was at the Happy Yess club doing the October 28th gig, I noticed that the lead i was using to plug my Fender Strat into the wall of amps was a bit cumbersome, hence the motivation to go wireless.

ah ok good solution Doc, $50 for a current digital receiver is cheap plus a few bucks for your parts for the mods

For sure mate, that Nady system looks cool, they're supposed to be the bee's knees when it comes to wireless systems, lots of pro bands use them.

Gotta be careful with older/discounted wireless units as broadcasting on certain frequencies became illegal in 2015.

Good point, the transmitter and receiver use two different channels, channel 1 is on 520.50 MHz and channel 2 is on 532.90 MHz.
