plenty of control options Darryl. You can use a smaller control cavity with just 2 volumes

Exactly. I want to keep as much wood in there as I can. I don't see the need to have the toggle switch up the top either. Just more wiring that isn't ever fun. I will just drill holes to connect the cavities and only rout the neck, pickups and the control recess without the switch cavity and connecting channel. That's the ideas anyway. Now - just have to make sure I don't fail!!

If you do away with the tone controls altogether, you are going to get a much brighter sound. You may just want to fit a capacitor and resistor in series from the output signal to ground (simulating a tone pot set to 10) to tame the brightness a bit, though it may depend on the pickups used, plus personal preference. I know Strat pickups can sound rather harsh with no tone control.
Probably much less effect with humbuckers than singe coils. It's nothing you can't easily add at a later date.
Yeah. I think a master volume/tone setup will probably be best

Yeah cheers John. It's my first attempt at a semi scratch build (I've got an LP style neck to attach the body to) and I'm learning as I go. I'm putting a lot of time into the planning and making sure the templates are perfect. My biggest worry is making sure the neck pocket is spot on. See how I go anyway
