my custom kits are still a few months away and I hate to waste this good building weather so.....

Plans are as per the picture. Gold Foil pick ups, humbucker at the bridge single at the neck. Teisco tail peice, roller bridge because it was cheap to buy two and mash them to get the black and gold. Tuners are mini Grovers but with gold kit nuts and screws.Humbucker will be split on the volume knob. Waiting for some more black and gold Marshal amp knobs to arrive. I need to design a pick guard or mounting ring for the neck pick up and decide on a headstock shape. Colour will be blue aniline wood dye on the front and head stock with a black burst, all black on the back, probably a walnut stained neck.

You can also take the top bit (that you turn) off the tuners and swap the gold kit bits on there if you want. The spline/tang things all line up and it works fine.

Sure this will be another classic

I did try that Sonic, but it was too much gold, I just want slight traces. I have gold strings for it as well. I do like the Brian May gold 9's from Optima, have them on a few guitars now.

Btw, here's an idea for someone crazier than me. Grab one of these kits, copy the bottom horn to the top, air brush the top as an Alien head with the headstock being the second mouth that shoots out. Yea I know......and I'm not even on drugs.

Regarding pickguard,

I recently did a photoshop mock-up for a customised shape tele pick guard.





This allows me to customise a pickguard which takes into various standard tele designs.

If you want me to do some mock ups when you design your headstock and pick guard let me know.

thanks mate, got my pencil out yesterday and drew up the pick guard...things what holds the pick-ups ( because they don't do much guarding !) The head stock will take its cue from the pick up thingy's .
