When to put the neck on?

Hi all i have a question...whens the best time to put the neck on? i was thinking at the end off staining but that would get glue everywhere. Should it go on after a few coats just before the final coat? cheers guys....

I'm guessing you're talking about a set neck? The neck goes on after you've finished the guitar. Be careful and you should be right.

I think I may have messed up my build... 😢

Iím building an SG-1. I stained th3 body and the neck separately and then glued the neck in place... now the neck pickup wonít fit into its hole. Have I mucked up the build? Was the pickup supposed to have been fitted before I glued the neck in place?

Did you check the scale length? You should be putting the pickups, etc as one of the last things after putting the neck on.

What sort of glue did you use?

Standard PBG kit glue. He had to steam the neck off - but it's all done now. Detailed in this thread, Brendan: http://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au...ead.php?t=7936
