I've done waterslides on previous builds, they work great. This time I want to do something a bit different - get the stained red wood as lines showing through black. Or else white lines on a plain...
Glue spots all gone, sanding nearly done, and headstock shaped. Was a lot easier with a dremel than with a hand file.

Now I'm waiting for my custom dingotone and...
Damn! I guess I can still remove it the same way, but I bet I have to re-timbermate that bit.
Haha, haven't heard that for years!
Anyway, timbermate mostly off, had to stop for the day:

Got 4 or 5 glue spots off before timbermate. Is this one I missed?...
Blue or green jelly? I feel like it may affect the tone.
How have people masked off F holes? I want to get some tape in there somehow to prevent the dust from sanding the timbermate from gettinginto the cavities, but I can't for the life of me figure out...
Works like a charm!

Having a "handle" was extremely helpful while getting the timbermate on, too. So much easier. Gonna do this on every guitar from now on.

I've got a few semi-permanent ropes for hanging stuff, but I never thought of using the strap button holes for hooks. That's why I love this forum - I keep getting advice that I'd never have thought...
Glue spots removed, I think I got them all. Got some sanding done.
How on earth do I hang this body up to dry once there's finish on it? My usual coathanger through the output rout isn't going to...
OK, great. Thanks guys! Big relief. Guess I'll get to sanding tomorrow.
I was sure I'd ordered this kit without pickups, but it came with pickups, and checking back over the receipt, I didn't say...
OK, cool. With the neck forward in the pocket so the pickup fits and the saddles nearly all the way forward, the high E saddle is 31.3cm from the nut. All good.
That still leaves a ~7mm gap...
Triple posting...
I may have worried prematurely. Just noticed that the bridge saddles are all the way back. They probably adjust enough to make the distances line up properly with the neck...
Neck pocket and heel dimensions, in case it matters

Sorry Weirdy, should have done that already. I hope measuring to the low E saddle is ok, because that's what I've done in the past and that's what I did this time. I can pull it all back out of the...
Extras arrived yesterday, kit arrived today. Impressed by the figure on the wood and the smoothness of the body - the nicest one I've seen.
I might just looking at it wrong, but I think the neck...
The first time I did that, it took me more than an hour to figure it out.
Tele's looking great.
Both those bass kits are on my list of stuff to do one day. Can't wait to see what you do with the IB5.
The whoel guitar looks fantastic, and I really love the colour on the back. Seriously just FW Jarrah > Tru oil? Looks killer!
The amp looks cool too. Can't wait to hear it all together -...
OK, everything sorted except the finish.
Pots and stuff ordered, sockets and wires etc found, nut blanks recovered from the back of the drawer, and a friend's practically giving me a set of...
Kit's shipped, so I'm putting together a list of extra parts and sundries, going over the stuff I already have (found some "vintage" metal braided/shielded cable!), emailing dingo bass about a...
Looking nice and shiny!
That's about where I'm at too, Dedman.
Thank you for the detailed post, Simon. I understood most of the first two paragraphs and only some of the rest, but it definitely answered my question!
Thanks!
While I'm OK at following wiring diagrams and simpler schematics, my actual knowledge of electronics is kinda weak, so I'm gonna ask a potentially stupid question.
Standard wiring has...
Considered splits and discarded the idea for a semihollow because I thought it'd make the wiring even more of a hassle. Thinking about it though, it actually won't, will it? Because the same pickup...
