BTW, I found a really good deal on a used DiMarzio SDS1 and put that in at the bridge. Its a darker-sounding pickup, but it allows just enough of a power boost that I can switch it on for those...
I put Irongear pickups in a lot of guitars in the past. Good choice!
30". Save the 27" for baritone conversions (which are cool too, but thats really a different animal I think).
I actually am serious about the wearing low,
... since I did the MK-2, I find its most comfortable worn low. But that means I gotta have legs out. And I was already a downpicker (funny story there),...
Wear it low enough and you find you have no choice anyway. :)
Geez, Adam, if ya'd told me "theres only one solid shape that cant be cut for a 7" and left it at that, the Tele would not have been my first guess, ha. But I guess the TL version is just too thin...
Yeah, I remembered the IB after posting. Unfortunately... cant bring myself to do a strat shape, heh.
Im tempted to dive into building a 7-string... but the PB options are limited, most of those have set necks (which Ive never attempted or owned before...)
Well, IIRC, the rattlecan said "Camel Yellow", but a friend dubbed it "Wino Piss".
Seemed more apt to me. :)
I admit I did once refinish a Strat copy in snot green. Why? Because I thought well, if Im gonna be seen with a damned Strat, it better be UGLY. :)
You could always go for wino piss yellow... wait, I just did that.
The funny thing, Waz, is that my fussy bandmates actually like the sound of the neck minihum a LOT. Though it has its limits, theres a warmth to it that mixes well in a live situation. Theres a...
Well, to be exact, the paint work I did turned out pretty nice. My buffing leaves something to be desired though - I thought I did a pretty good job at the time, but the polish isnt quite as glossy...

From practice.
Really tempted to do another one based on what I learned/relearned here, but I think Id better practice my finishing on scrap wood a bit more before doing that (my job isnt...
Yeah, when you shield, keep in mind you're making a "cage".
Two kits for one? Jackpot!
Yeah, wrap sandpaper around a pencil or even a fork handle.... anything thin and relatively sturdy.
As for pups not fitting, are the screws too long or the cavities just not wide enough?
Yup, if you want a 1v 2t setup, the diagram above is the way to go. Pretty easy to put together, too.
If youd prefer a 2v 1t arrangement, the wiring will be slightly different, but not to a great...
Unless theres a preponderance of specialized pots out there that I dont know about, it doesnt matter which pot goes where, just what you wire to them. :)
They're stereotyped with metal? Well, I guess thats true, though I often think of ZZ Top and bad beer logos. :)
Havent had one peel or fray on me, if thats what you're wondering, and Im pretty rough on fretboards.
I have the CC stickers on one guitar. They look great, and people often ask me where I got the "custom work". Theyre a little surprised when told theyre just carefully applied stickers.
Dedmans right, if your veneer isnt marked up, you can clearcoat it nicely, then sand the clearcoat gently and reapply till smooth.
Nothing wrong with being prepared. Before I started work on mine, I had assembled a box of tools and materials I knew I needed. Now that we are in the internet age, theres plenty of good info online...
