Hi Andy
Thank you for your kind words.
It has some of the characteristic sound of a MM Stingray. But because of the stainless steel frets and strings plus a hardwood fretboard, it has more...

Hi everyone
It,s been a while since my last post. I've been lurking your amazing builds here now and then, but been occupied with scratchies I've built for my friends. Not so much building kits...
Thanks guys for your compliments. It's nice to hear others like my work too. There are very nice new kits to choose from this year on PBG selection and I'm anxious to see what people do with them -...
Hi and thanks
They were pretty tight fit but I still used Titebond to fill any gaps when I put them in. Also sanded the top so they are flush for sure.
Some are for the fibres and some don't...

Hi all
It's been a long time since I last wrote here and it's because I've been building my first scratch build and now that it's finished I couldn't help myself but post it here. This was a huge...
Frankenwashie
You're right. Finnish is a hard language to master and for an english speaker it's easy to come here cause nearly every Finn under 60 speaks at least understandable english to some...
Hi Frankenwashie
This time it went fairly well but... do yourself a favour in the future and don't use the translator with Finnish. It just never works although I appreciate the effort. If I used...
Kiitti Urho. Eipä ole todellakaan hassumpi tuo sinunkaan keihääsi. Mukavaa, että löytyy kotimaasta muitakin tässä yhteisössä.
Thanks Urho. Yours is definately not any less of an axe. Nice job....
Thanks for the kind words Simon and you're right about the saddle screws. I'll fix that. I had to make a small shim to the pocket to get them to that height but it still is what it is. Easy enough to...

Hi
might as well throw this one in the mix even though by looking at this month's contestants I don't stand a chance...
Here's my "Barncaster" where I aimed to get an old Barnwood look.
...
Thanks guys. I like what I accomplished with the looks plis it was a very therapeutic build cause I didn't have to take so much care to achieve a spotless and perfect surface but more like every ding...
More pics... for some reason my phone's camera took some really grainy photos. Have to get some better ones if I decide to take part of a GOTM

Hi everybody
I didn't seem to have time to post any of the work phases until now and the Barncaster is finished. :)
Got it set up and going.
Electronics are 500k pots (yes I know - 250 would...
Great builds both Zandit and Alan. Love the blue RCA-4 - bass player as I am but also the spalt goodness of Zandit's build.
Thanks guys. I'm pretty excited of the results myself. Have had so much fun with this one and I love this type of rustic look that I'm definately gonna do this type of build again. A bass next time.
Okay...
So I got the body "abused" and went to staining it and puttin on the Tru Oil. Had a hard time banging the body and poking extra holes in it - my heart almost bled but in the end... well...
The colour plan is to give the body a gray look to go with black pearl scratchplate and chrome harware. Same shade of gray to the headstock top and very light/dirty shade of gray to the fretboard and...
Hi Woks
Yep - no sanding but still quite alot of work. Not the same as before though which is refreshing I must say. :)
OK...
the first step in "distressing" the wood is close to done. I found a great youtube video on how to take out some of the softer wood between the grains with a power drill and a brass brush...
Update...
After being sick with a persistent (man)flu and popping antibiotics for over a week now I finally got to do some work on the guitar. Today I attached the neck, placed the bridge, routed...
Hi Woks
I'm planning on staining it black after I "wear down" the wood, then sanding it back and then adding a shade of gray next. Trying to achieve an old gray wood look. Also gonna use a light...
