Love the colour.
Hi,
Here's my GR1-SF Lefty first build. Took a while to get started and settle on the finish. So glad I went with Tru Oil and the stains.
Wiring was done 4 times! Thanks to forum for help there.

Hi Dougr, Your finish is looking really nice. I've got a tru oil and stain on mine.
I am just in the very final stages of my GR 1Sf build.
I had a lot of frustration from the wiring too. And...
Hi, How I found centre and positioned the tremolo.
With the neck in position and the bridge on it's posts I marked the centre at points down the fretboard and ran a wire down the centre of the neck...
Hi BuffaloGhost,
thanks for that.
I did look at getting a new nut, but being a lefty, there isn't much choice, and what I found available didn't match the width of the original, so I wasn't...
Got it off last night.
I used a scalpel to probe lightly under the nut and where it joins at the sides.
taped up the fretboard next to it, put a small block of wood on the fret side, and tapped...
Thanks Darkmark,
I've seen it done on Youtube and of course it looked pretty straight forward. A couple of taps and off she comes!
But I'll see if I can prep it and gently scrape some glue out...
OK, So I'd need to knock out the nut first, and sand the base to adjust it's height?
If I do that, could I damage the base? My nut seems to be glued to part of the border on the side of the neck.
Thanks FrankenWashie,
From research I've got the same measurements for the 1st fret as you. So my nut is a long way out making the guitar unplayable.
Yes, you're right, the nut is sitting at a bit...
Thanks Simon, Andy and all for great advice,
I went back very slowly and methodically again. Re soldering, and checking wires where braided earth may have touched wires.
Installed in the body a...

Hi WeirdBits thanks for this.
I checked through your list:
Yes I get good sound from pickups tapping test.
Yes it happens on all switch positions
When both Neck and Bridge Vol pots are on 0...
Hi Andy,
I haven't installed the wiring into the body yet. The loom is still on the piece of cardboard with pickups in position and there is a ground wire from a pot to the bridge. But no strings...
WIRING HUM! Need Help please.
Very frustrated today as after the 3rd wiring attempt I still have the Hum! No idea why. Each attempt I have changed wires, added shielded wire, and on last attempt...
Yep.
Can't get rid of the loud Hum. I don't even get a tap sound when I tap the pickups. Have checked, and redone joins without any luck.
having searched online and the forum, I think I'm going to...
Hi Adam,
I'll look into the rolling bridge, thanks.
I'm having problems with the electronics. Just getting a lot of hum and nothing else. i saw Shazzrandom's Youtube on her gr-1sf build and she...
Hi BuffaloGhost,
I'm looking forward to seeing yours evolve.
I'm having problems with electronics at the moment.
Thanks Andy,
I have also re shaped the head stock. didn't want to remove much wood but was happy with this.
Not looking forward to the fitting the electronics though!
Hi All,
I ordered a custom GR 1SF Lefty around June last year.
Opened the box very excited. Then when I placed all the components together I realised the tremolo was a right hand version! Adam...
The bottom of the neck slot on my GR-1SF Lefty doesn't look square. So I'm concerned that surfaces won't meet and glue properly. Do I have to add a shim to make sure? See 2 pics attached.
Thanks
