NAD.... New Amp Day!
This arrived late yesterday. Picked up on a 20% off sale. I had been tossing up between this, a Fender Bass Breaker 20 head and a H&K TubeMeister 20 head. So when the deal of 20% off came it tipped me over. I was after clean tones mostly. It has an interesting feature in that it has EL84's AND 6V6's and you can switch between them. Also a scale-able output from 1 to 20 watts. Gave it a brief run this morning with the Jazzmaster, then my LP jnr and it sounded great, plugged in the Gretsch and went to heaven! My first all tube amp so I am noticing differences from my little Orange Micro and Vox VTX20. Loads of gain to be had but the cleans....woo. Only used the Jensen Falcon speaker cab , will try the Celestion Greenback cab later

nice looking amp Deddy, can't beat an all valve amp when the tubes are brand new. Bet it's a joy to play through.

As a proud owner of a Marshall MA100 C 100 Watt 2 X 12 All Valve combo amp, I will second what Wokkaboy said, the three Gold Lion ECC83 Gold Pin preamp valves I installed in it are sounding really good at the moment, I just finished doing some work on my LP Studio guitar and was trying it out through the Marshall, and I have to say I've got that glorious midrange crunchy overdrive tone back again, had to keep the volume down a bit so I wouldn't disturb my neighbor in unit 12 though, I'm seriously thinking of going to the Happy Yess club this coming Thursday to do an open mic jam night, might take both the LP Studio and my Hot Rod Strat with me.
@ Dedman Nice amp you scored there, I've heard lots of good things about Egnater amps, some big name musos play them.

Very very nice score Deady, I might have a quick look while her indoors isn't looking

Nice one Deddy I'm sure it sounds as sensational as it looks

(sorry it had to b e said)

Excellent amp Deddy... The H&K is reported to be a tad brighter than the Egnater , and tops out a bit for Strats (I'm sure it's fine though...)
The Egnater has a great clean - always a first consideration , I think, great buy

pushed aside amp was/is a marshall valvestate vs30 which has been a trooper for around 15 years. prior to that i still have my peavey rage 12watt, still going after 20+ years even after so many floggings from a yamaha dd6 drum machine
new setup = Strauss chinese 15/8watt Tube - 2x 12ax7 - 2x EL84 ( apparently a night train clone)
and Vox (v112nt-g2) 1 x 12 Greenback 16 ohm
What was your first Amp/Combo/Cab ?

many years ago I had a Brisbane made bass combo who's name escapes me, had plastic gutter guard type mesh on the front LOL.
This time round I started with a Vox VTX20 combo, then bought an Orange Micro Terror. The Vox improved 100% when I beheaded it and plugged it into a 12 inch speaker of quality (have both a Jensen Falcon and a Celestion greenback in separate cabs), the Orange is a bit bland to be honest. It does most things well but nothing brilliantly. I mostly use the Vox for late night headphone noodling now.
