All the hardware is present and correct.
Now to get it wired up.

O.K. Now where did I put those strings?

So I broke the high E yet again (from the no-name set included in the kit) so not the full range.
I guess I've satisfied the initial test.
So I'll probably fit the bridge ferrules as the tremolo won't work without the rocking bridge.
Timely as I saw a youtube hint about tightening the tremolo arm up a tad.

It's on a holding pattern.
Re-routed some of the tremolo cavity, and re-fitted the tremolo.
Decided to fit decent strings and 'play it in'.
Tremolo doesn't work. Bridge is probably too low and not 'rocking' on the 2 bridge screws.
If I screw them in it only raises the action so I'll probably have to shim the neck.
Time to put it to one side (except for the playing part) and get on with other projects.

Better to find these bugs now I suppose. It's looking good. I have zero experience with those bridges/trems so can't help with any advice there.
Thanks SM. I'm quite happy with the way it's turned out so far in that department.
I get the impression you are not alone.
Think I'll drop into Music Junction and see if I can get a hands-on impression of the real Jazzmaster and see if I can work out what's up.
Could be just the cheap Chinese tremolo, but there's not a lot to them.
edit: Actually it's easy to bend the strings up (pulling up on the arm) but doing the down meets with strong resistance.
cheers, Mark.
Could the underside of the trem mechanism be hitting the side of the cavity rout
May have to dig out the main area a bit deeper to see if that resolves the issue.
Meanwhile I'm ploughing on regardless.
Seen a few do this mod and I've done it to my tele squier...
